  1. What do you plan to do with the quinces? I hope you post a recipe or two. My father grows them on his New Mexico property but doesn’t do a whole lot with them other than make apple-quince preserves. I’d love to have some new ideas to share with him.

  2. I’m making membrillo AKA quince meat or quince paste. Plus I think I’m going to roast some with honey, apples, pears and figs.

  3. I got a bag of quinces last year from my office landlord. I brought some to school to serve as fruit models, told the kids NOT to eat the quinces. Of course one kid took a bite and totally gagged, LOL, he said it tasted like turpentine and sour milk. Quinces are thought to be the actual apple in the bible. You have to have the knowledge of cooking to eat it, I guess.

  4. There is actually one variety of quince that can be eaten raw but most need to be cooked. Once cooked they are so delish! Next time take them, roast them with butter and honey – it’s fabulous. They turn a lovely redish orange color when cooked.

Now, some she sed you wouldn’t give to yoor 7 year old but dat is called parenting and even if yoo have an 11, 12 or 13 year old read dem you should be der to answer questions.
