Official Torch Paw-off

DK – So we headed off to Vacaville to meet Max. DKM gave me directions but I was really concerned when we ended up at a building and not Max’s house.
Fiona – She meowed some bad words.
DK – Anyway, I’m there carrying the torch hoping to spot Max or Buddah, any one when this large red bean looking thing called our names.

Lando – It was soo cool
Mattingly – Yeah, cool
DK – Anyway… We followed the large red bean into the Jelly Belly Factory. At this point I was convinced that DKM had maybe been kicked in the head by one of those stagecoach horses when I smelled it… SARDINES!
Mattingly – Yeah, Sardines. Lando, what are sardines?
Lando – I don’t know but I smell fresh grass. FIONA! LOOK! GRASS! Binkie!
Red Bean – Welcome all to Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean Factory
Max – munch, munch, munch… Yeah welcome munch, munch, munch…
Sophia – Are you eating bacon Max?
Max – Oh yeah Baby! Sweet crunchy real live dead pig bacon!
Mattingly – It’s MAX! Oh. My. God. Look Orlando it’s Max. Max. *Pass out*
Sophia – Don’t worry Max, he’s been like that all day. He’ll wake up in a few.
Mattingly – It’s MAX! Oh. My. God. Look Fiona it’s Max. Max. *Pass out*
Max – Kittens…

Red Bean – As I was saying, Welcome all to Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean Factory. We’re very excited to have the torch relay team perform the last paw-off here at our Factory.
DK - Hand over the sardines mister
Orlando – Munch, munch, munch… How about Banana flavor? Do you have banana flavor?
Red Bean – *ignoring Sophia* This has truly been a global effort and we’d like to take a moment to recognize all of the torch relay organizers

Red Bean – Now for our guests Sophia and Max we have two new Bertie Bott’s Bean Flavours to introduce. JK, please come forward.

Mattingly - Huh, what…

DK – MEOW!

WHAT ARE THOSE?

Whoa what a morning!

First all of us got on a boat! I’m not sure how happy Sophia was to get up that early. She kept muttering about getting her fur wet. Fiona and Orlando asked the Captain if they could binkie down the gangplank. DKM said the boat would take us to San Francisco.

Um, DKM are we going to hit that bridge?

Whoa! Cool! We went under the bridge!

So then we landed at the Ferry Plaza and I was, like, now what. DKM said, ‘Wait for it. You’ll feel it coming!” Then my paws started shaking and Orlando and Fiona both hid behind me.

WOW! A stagecoach. A real stagecoach, like, from the gold rush stagecoach.

That’s the driver. DKM said her work sent it because she had a big surprise for me, DK and the Fluffies. Sitting next to the driver is Jack the Dog. He let me sit next to him on the top of the stagecoach. He told me that every stagecoach for the last 154 years has had a Jack the dog onboard. It’s his job to guard the money and on this trip it’s his job to guard us and the torch.

Then we were in a huge parade down Catifornia Street

At the end of the parade we said goodbye to the Horsies and Jack. Waiting for us was a Cable Car! It was taking us to another surprise!

We went to Golden Gate Park, where there was a huge party celebrating the CatOlympics.

Then DKM took us to this really, really crooked street. Orlando, Fiona and I raced down to the bottom. Sophia waited in the car. She didn’t want to get her paws dirty. I cannot believe how fast Orlando can hop.

Knowing how hungry I was DKM took me to the place where she got the crab.

And I finally got to see all of the sea lions DK meows about in her blog. Wow, we don’t have anything like this in NY.

Well I’ve got to go. DKM is shouting at me that we’re going to miss the boat home and we still have to go meet Max at a secret place. Oh mom, DK said I could go with her and the fluffies to hand off the torch because I came so far. And DK said she would bring me home tonight so I don’t have to go home by myself. And I gotted some crab for you. And I gotted some sourdough bread for you.

DKM - Honey, there is a three hour time difference between NY and SF. Orlando will play with you if you want.
